Soundtrack and ambiances
Sound is the backbone of an audio drama experience. In Dice Queen, the narrator has a layered audio system to play theme songs and looped ambiance sounds simultaneously and independently.
Standard format and limits
To ensure maximum compatibility and avoid unwanted pauses in web loading:
- Required format: Exclusively files in the format
.ogg(Vorbis / Opus). - Size limit: Up to 10MB per audio file.
- Advantage of .ogg: High sound fidelity with files much smaller than MP3 or WAV, allowing playback in a continuous loop without pops.
Songs vs.settings
The system separates the audio into two complementary tracks:
1. Theme songs
- Tracks with melodic composition, rhythm and instruments (e.g. combat themes, melancholic melodies, tense suspense, triumphant fanfares).
- They usually play one at a time, with a smooth transition when changing tracks.
2. Sound ambiances (Ambience)
- Layers of continuous atmospheric sound (e.g. soft rain hitting the ceiling, wind howling on a mountain, the buzz of people in the tavern, mechanical noises from a spaceship).
- They play in an infinite loop in the background, creating the spatial illusion of the environment where the scene takes place.
Adding tracks Behind the Scenes
- Go to the “Music” or “Ambience” section in Behind the Scenes.
- Click ”[+Add Audio]” or bring tracks from your My Library.
