Creating and using scenes
During the heat of a live session, changing the background, playing a new song, adjusting the ambient rain sound, and placing three monsters on the screen can require a lot of manual clicking.Scenes in Dice Queen solve this problem by bringing all of these elements together into a single smart trigger actionable in 1 click.
What is a scene?
A Scene works as an automatic package that ties together:
- Background: The main illustration or scenery of that moment.
- Main soundtrack: The theme song for that situation (e.g. boss battle).
- Continuous ambience sound: The audio in a complementary loop (e.g.: electrical storm).
- Pre-positioned portraits: Which characters or NPCs should appear immediately to the left and right of the stage.
- Visual effects or opening cutscene: Introductory video that precedes the scene.
How to create a new scene
- In the “Scenes” section of Behind the Scenes, click ”[+ New scene]”.
- Give a memorable name (e.g. “Ambush in the Dark Forest”, “Throne Hall”).
- Select the desired components using the visual wizard:
- Choose the corresponding background;
- Link the musical track and the sound ambiance;
- Mark which characters and monsters should enter the scene immediately.
- Save the scene.
Enabling live scenes
In Stage Mode, your finished Scenes are highlighted at the top of the narrative column:
- Clicking on the Scene performs the synchronized transition of all elements at the same time: the background changes, the music starts playing and the portraits assume their positions on the stage and in Transmission Mode.
- This frees the narrator from the operational burden to focus 100% on the engaging description of the story!
